How to get a license to be a dentist?Kuwait has laws that control the practice of dentistry.
If you want to be a dentist in Kuwait, like other countries, you must take an exam so that you can get your license. This test is given by the Ministry of Health, State of Kuwait. This test is called the Kuwait Dental Licensing Examination (KDLE). All dental school graduates who do not have a license to practice in Kuwait must successfully complete this exam to be a dentist in a public or private clinic. A dentist who has a degree from a dental school recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Kuwait can apply to take the KDLE. The test is in English and it takes one day. There are 200 multiple choice questions. The passing mark is decided by the Board of Examiners. This test make sure that all dentists in Kuwait are qualified.
Kuwait University has a faculty of Dentistry. There is an International staff of teachers and there have been four graduating classes so far. It has a very big clinic where the dental students train and practice.
How many years do you need to study to be a Dentist?There are three phases of the program and all together it takes 7 years to graduate. After you graduate you take the test for your license and then you can practice Dentistry in Kuwait. They also have training programs and workshops for dentists. The Kuwait Dental Association (KDA) was established in 1974. The KDA is the professional association for dentists. The KDA serves its members by representing them and providing them with different scientific programs, social programs and a sense of unity. KDA also tries to educate the public and increase public awareness about the latest issues related to dental health. They believe that oral health is important to your quality of life and prevention the most important part of oral health care. KDA represents its members and has a code of ethics toward patients, the public, the profession and other people they work with. The Kuwait Dental Association was established on October 15, 1974 by a group of twenty three dentists. The KDA has several committees like the Scientific Committee, the Media Committee, the Social Committee, the Commission of Graduates and Graduate Studies, the Sports Committee and the Women’s Commission. They also have a commission website and a magazine.
There are many public dental clinics in Kuwait that are run by the government. They are free for Kuwaitis. There are also many private clinics. There are dental clinics in most private hospitals. There are also separate dental clinics such as Bayan Dental, Gulf Clinic, Maidan Dental Clinic, BalsamDental Clinic, ABHA Dental Clinic, and many more. They have both medical and surgical services like pulling teeth, filling cavities, gum treatments, fluoride treatments and teeth cleaning. They also have cosmetic services like teeth whitening, implants, and orthodontics (braces). All of these services cost money in the private clinics. Some are very expensive. If take private health insurance so you pay much less or nothing at all.
